A restaurant with an 18th century heritage
Our history: 200 years of tradition
A journey through time
by Hacienda Laborcilla
Hacienda Laborcilla begins its history in the 18th century, a period in which it was established as an important storage center for wheat and other crops in the region of La Laborcilla. This territory extends from the Alamos neighborhood to the surrounding streets near the crossing of the Universidad River. The hacienda was a key point in grain production and played a fundamental role in the livelihood of the community, driving the agricultural and economic development of the area. Its legacy lives on, reminding us of the importance of agriculture in the region's history.
From farm to school and event hall
In its modern era, the hacienda underwent a series of significant transformations. Initially, it was used by the Kennedy School, which is currently located in Jurica. Later, it was transformed into an elegant events hall, managed by the ICA group. However, its course changed when it was acquired by the Familia Laborcilla group, who saw the great potential of this historic space, committing themselves to revitalize it.
The restoration that gave life to the best
restaurant in Querétaro
The hacienda underwent a meticulous five-year restoration, a process in which the original structure was maintained, preserving the colonial walls and arches that tell the story of its glory days. Thus, Hacienda Laborcilla was reborn as an emblematic restaurant, one of Mexico's 100 must-visit restaurants where cultural heritage and gastronomic modernity coexist in perfect harmony. After its renovation, it was designated as a cultural and historical heritage of humanity, protected by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Hacienda Laborcilla Today: Tradition and Modernity
Its history began in 2006 as the Horus Bar, which laid the foundation for the opening of the restaurant in 2009. Today, the bar has been transformed into The Carter Bar, an exclusive space inspired by Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun. In our sophisticated bar you will find a selection of music on vinyl that includes afro house, disco and funky, and signature cocktails that will delight you. At The Carter Bar you will find the essentials to make your evening a unique experience.
